April 17 update
Eremite's Attack and Mystic Sweep were both nerfed to 1 sec cast. This seems like it'll mess up Lyssa builds quite a bit, now that Scythe Mastery doesn't have any >1 sec activation skills. Any ideas on workarounds/new builds?

This will hurt the dervs... eh, doesn't effect me too much but I did feel that there was a need for some type of nerf.

The point of this thread, is discussion of the Dervish changes and workarounds for Lyssa builds (which I believe is the only build adversely affected).
On topic, was the change due to non-scythe builds, or were the /D's using scythes? Because I would wonder if changing them from "melee" skills to scythe ones would have helped?

I don't see how this affects PvE at all. Since you're rarely spiking anything, the 1/4 means nothing.

You can no longer use the them to target skill activation with Lyssa or put three of them on your bar in place of an IAS.

This month's update is unique. It is a "temporary tournament update" targeted at the final cash-prize tournament, which will take place at the end of April. The skill changes are temporary and will be in effect for only two weeks. They are all geared toward addressing the most immediate issues with Guild Battles.
In order to reduce the possible negative impact on PvE play, we will be reverting the changes on May 1st. For future tournaments, we aim to focus on changes that will not impact PvE play at all.

o so what. So two scythe attacks got nerfed big deal. More Scythe skills out there to use for R/D, A/D, W/D. Just to find ones that will suit your character situation. The Dervish professions dont need to worry about those skills got more in their arsnal to use. Now if Chilling Victory got nerfed than that whole different situation so many PvE builds use that skill dish out heavy dmg.

The fact that it is a "temporary tournament update" is probably the most significant thing here. Could it be the beginning of a two tier system? One set of nerfs for PvP and one for PvE?

1 second casts are complely unhittable now.
No its not the end of the world, but it definitely drops Lyssa back to a tier 2 elite. I can't imagine choosing it over Wounding, Meladru or VoS now.

So you're saying you used to be able to twitch a 1 second spell with a 3/4 attack?

Not twitching but predicting - before you ask, no you can't just hit it .25 seconds earlier because you're reacting to triggers - eg Spellbreaker at 80% hp in the case of the margonites above.
The ias is still usable though, 11 attacks every 12.5 seconds instead of 11.5 so I take that one back. I'd assumed adding a 1/4 second to two elements of the cycle would have resulted in bigger changes but they didn't.

Right there.
Also I've never seen Eremite's and Mystic Sweep as a replacement for an IAS in any Dervish build.
